This week I received a sign I’d been waiting for.
I wrote here and here about the McCarney family that owned my house between 1918 or so and 1976. Patricia McCarney, one of four siblings, lived in the house – nicknamed Rustic Manor – until she entered the convent. John, her nephew, spent summers at the house with the extended family.
Patricia and John have been in touch the past few years, stopping by for occasional visits. John recently wrote that he was making me a reproduction of the original Rustic Manor sign. On Monday, he and his brother Pat stopped by to deliver my gift.
It’s brilliant. I’m happy to have another piece of the history of the place and so appreciative of John’s thoughtfulness.
