How to get to Burritt’s Rapids
By public transportation
There are no public transportation options to/from the village.
By bike
Check out the Ottawa Bicycle Club and/or Google Maps for options around riding to the event.
By car
Coming from downtown Ottawa there are two routes (use the street address 23 Grenville St., Burritt’s Rapids in Google Maps):
a) Take the 416 south to Exit 42 – Dilworth Road and follow Donnelly Drive (follow the ‘Merrickville’ signs) to Burritt’s Rapids.
b) Take Dwyer Hill Rd south until it ends at the t-junction at Donnelly Drive. Park along Donnelly near the church (recommended) or take a left then an immediate right into the village.
Parking
Park anywhere along Donnelly Drive near the church (3 mins walk to the Community Hall)
Drive south through the village, crossing both bridges. Park in the gravel ‘parking lot’ on the south side of the canal, immediately to the left of the swing bridge (4 mins walk to the community hall).
Food Services
There are a few food options:
1. There will be some snacks for sale at the event but when you’re heading to Ruralville it’s always recommended to bring along food, especially if you have kids in tow. We recommend packing a picnic lunch as there are so many lovely spots along the river/canal and trails. But there is a lovely restaurant on the outskirts of the village…
2. …less than 15 minutes walk from the village centre. It’s called Lock 17 and it is open all weekend for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can accessed by walking the eastern end of the Tip-to-Tip trail and crossing the canal at the lock station, or by walking/driving to River Rd. and turning left.
3. There will be a village potluck on Sunday, May 3rd from noon to 1:30pm. When you arrive at noon with your dish you’ll be given a wristband to participate. Please click here for important details.
